This week GLEN (the Gay and Lesbian Equality Network) announced the winners of the inaugural Workplace Equality Index Awards to recognise and celebrate organisations that are making significant efforts to ensure that LGBT employees can be themselves without fear of it negatively affecting their career.

GLEN’s Workplace Equality Index is an evidence-based benchmark system that provides a very clear roadmap for employers to drive and deliver on their diversity and inclusion goals.  It measures organisations’ efforts to tackle discrimination and create inclusive workplaces for LGBT employees.

Congratulations to the employers who have been recognised for their efforts to encourage LGBT equality and inclusion in their workplaces!

WEI

Background

GLEN works directly with employers to build their capacity to be fully inclusive of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) people, to ensure the move towards legislative equality helps achieve truly inclusive workplaces for LGBT people.

Building on the success of GLEN’s Diversity Champions programme – Ireland’s network for LGBT inclusive employers, employing almost 100,000 people in the public and private sector – GLEN developed Ireland’s inaugural annual Workplace Equality Index (WEI).

Workplace Equality Index

The WEI is an essential way to measure organisations’ efforts to tackle discrimination and create inclusive workplaces for LGBT employees.  Strong supporting evidence was required throughout the submissions.  The WEI is designed to push top performers to new heights while providing a best-practice roadmap for employers at every stage of their diversity and inclusion journey.  The WEI supports employers in Ireland align their equality, diversity and inclusion standards with best practice.
